  • flashcards
  • writing them  in fun colors with crayons, colored pencils, or markers, Bingo daubers

  • Gel in a ziplock bag and have them trace it.
  • Tape sight words around the house
  • Memory game with them
  • Say a sight word have them tap it with a fly swatter
  • Tape them to floor have them hop on the sight word

    • Blending letter sounds together to read words (cat, map)
    • Continuing writing in our journals
    • Syllables count how many syllables are in words. (pumpkin has 2 syllables pump  kin)
    • Rhyming words
    • Color and heart words:have, what ,you ,was, are, look, book, from ,he, be, me ,see , of, to, do, said, as, a, I, the, and,  yellow, red, orange, green, blue, purple, pink, black, white, brown.
    • Continuing with concepts of print ( title, front of book, back of book, title page, reading from left to right, pointing to period at end of sentence)
    • working on number formation and letter formation
    • Math: Chapter 11 Identify 2D shapes
    • Counting by 1’s to 100 and by 10’s to 100
    • review addition and subtraction facts
    • 3D shapes
    • Continue Friendship

I do not need to see everyone this time. I will be contacting families I want to meet with. Of course I am always available to talk after school or on my prep with anyone who has concerns. I will be sending progress reports home this week. I am so proud of this class. In the last couple weeks I have seen so many students improve. Things are starting to click with everyone!!

Readers corner:

  • When reading at night with your child ask them to find sight words in books.
  • Ask them what author does and Illustrator does?
  • Ask what happened in the beginning of the story, middle, and end of story.
  • Ask them to sound out words in books.

Tying Shoe Club:

I will be starting a Tying the Shoe Club after Christmas Break. Students that can show me they can tying their shoes will get their name up in the hallway for everyone to see ! Please have students practice tying their own shoes.

Boots:

Feel free to send your child in with snow boots. Please also send a change of shoes for them to change into.

Coats:

Please make sure your child brings a coat to school everyday. They will not be allowed outside for recess without one.

PBIS:

Please remind your child to be safe, responsible, and respectful in school.

Reading a to z (Raz kids) is a great tool as well to use. I upload books on your child’s reading level. The link is also on the blog.
