Zero the Hero:
The next Zero the Hero day is December 13th which is the 70th day of school.
Smencils:
Smencils will be on sale on Tuesday and Thursday for $1 each. They are smelly pencils. Kids love them!!
Tying Shoe Club:
I will be starting a Tying the Shoe Club after Christmas Break. Students that can show me they can tying their shoes will get their name up in the hallway for everyone to see and a prize from my Treasure Chest! Please have students practice tying their own shoes.
Coats:
Please make sure your child brings a coat to school everyday. They will not be allowed outside for lunch recess without one. Please have your child practice zipping up their coat.
Snack:
We have plenty of snack for a while. I will let everyone know when I need some.
I Can Read:
Your child is tested with flashcards and all they have to do is read the words. It does not hurt to have them learn how to spell the words they are learning. I do have them practice spelling them in class. Just keep in mind sometimes it takes awhile to pass a list. Please remind your child not to get discouraged. I always tell them to try their best!
Readers corner:
- When reading at night with your child ask them to find sight words in books.
- Ask them what author does and Illustrator does?
- Ask what happened in the beginning of the story, middle, and end of story.
- Ask them to sound out 3 letter cvc works (hat, man, top, ect) in books. Dr. Seuss book have tons of these words.
Math
We just started working on counting on from a number with using ten frames or tally marks. They are recognizing that is a ten frame has ten boxes filled in start counting from 10 (if each box is filled in) then 11, 12, ect. Tally marks are in groups of 5 so same concept.
Have a great week!!
