- Vowel teams (two vowels go walking the first one does the talking) ee, ea, oa, ai, ay, ey, oe, ue, ie, ow, and ui
- Diagraphs: st, sh, ch, wh, th, and ph
- Blends: sl, bl, pl, gl, and fl
- Zoophonics
- Magic “e” words
- long and short vowels
- Daily 5 literacy centers
- Writing in journals
- Math book Chapter 14 number facts (adding)
- math centers (working with teacher this week is addition, counting on, subtraction)
- counting by 1’s to 100 and 10’s to 100
- Science we are talking about plants, the life of a butterfly, and animals
What to work on at home:
- Reading books
- Have your child sound out unknown words
- Book in a bag
- Counting to 100 by 1’s and 10’s
- Tying shoes (we have a number of friends in the Tying the Shoe Club)
- Practice Rhyming
- Practice I Can Read sight words
Important Dates:
- Zoo Trip is on May 17th
- No school on May 29th

Field Trip:
Detroit Zoo Trip is Wednesday!! Please send your child to school with a packed lunch. As of right now the weather forecast says high of 80. Please make sure you send your child to school with sunscreen on. Also we will be doing lots of walking please have your child wear comfortable shoes. Please DO NOT SEND in any money. Your child will NOT be buying anything at the zoo or going on rides. I will send a note home today.

End of the Year:
We DO NOT have a kindergarten graduation here at Bennie. We only have a 5th grade Graduation.
We do have a end of the year picnic celebration. I will be sending out a sign up genius for people to donate items. You are all welcome to come to our picnic lunch on Wed June 14th at 11:00 am until 11:40.
